Joan was born in Edmonton,raised in Tofield Alberta and now resides in Tugaske Saskatchewan. She enjoys the peace and quiet of rural life, as well as the proximity to wildlife. Saskatchewan has a wide variety in it's landscape, as well as the creatures that inhabit it. Eking out an existence by tilling the soil, as well as recording images on stone- these are activities that go back to the very beginning of time... "I am following an age old tradition! It is a priviledge to be able to experience the seasons in such a meaningful and intimate fashion- from spring births and seeding time, right through harvest."

The artist has exhibited her work at such galleries as: Gallery on the Roof - Regina, "Cast in Stone" - Royal Oak Gallery, Saskatoon; "Living Stones" show - Braithewaite & James, Regina; "Reflections of Nature" exhibition - Saskatoon. She also has work in many private and corporate collections including: Sask.Power, CKCK T.V., Great West Life, and ABC Canada. She was commissioned to do 17 original paintiings for Sask. Wetlands Corp., and has been commissioned by many different offices and organizations to paint one of a kind pieces for presentations, awards, and gifts. Her latest winnings, which awarded $2000, was with "Water Woman", and "Zebra Portrait" - both awarded First Place ribbons in the "Prairie Arts Show and Sale" Regina Sask.

The artist's passions include: horseback riding, gardening, camping, canoeing, birdwatching and hiking. Joan and her husband and three children live on a farm in South central Saskatchewan.

"Our beloved Jack Russell terrior, Teak, is really part of the family! Smart and energetic, she is as tough as nails and courageous as well. Dedicated to each member of our family, she is an excellent pet, as well as a great farm dog especially when it comes to rodent control!"
